Hitachi ZX135-7 Excavator with Custom Arm

This project involved the development of a detailed 3D model of the Hitachi ZX135-7 excavator, customized with a specialized arm configuration and forestry attachment system.
The objective was to accurately recreate the modified mechanical structure while maintaining production-ready geometry suitable for visualization, animation, and industrial presentations.

Custom Engineering Focus

Unlike standard equipment modeling, this project required:

  • Custom arm redesign
  • Hydraulic routing adjustments
  • Attachment integration (grapple system)
  • Structural alignment for pivot accuracy
  • Mechanical clearance validation

All custom components were modeled to reflect realistic joint behavior and industrial functionality.

Modeling Scope

  • Full excavator exterior modeling
  • Undercarriage and track system detailing
  • Cabin exterior & interior base structure
  • Custom arm assembly
  • Engcon tilt-rotator system
  • Hydraulic cylinders and hose detailing

The mechanical hierarchy was structured for potential rigging and animation workflows.

Technical Specifications

  • Clean quad-based topology
  • Subdivision-ready surfaces
  • Real-world scale accuracy
  • Optimized mesh density
  • Organized object grouping
  • PBR-ready UV structure

The model balances geometric precision with performance efficiency for rendering and real-time adaptation.
